United States Department of Agriculture
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is the federal executive department responsible for agricultural policy, food safety, nutrition assistance, forestry, and rural development. It is headed by the Secretary of Agriculture, appointed by the President with Senate confirmation, and its headquarters is in Washington, D.C. The department administers major programs including farm support, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), food safety inspection, and the national forest system.
