Urengoy–Pomary–Uzhhorod gas pipeline
The Urengoy — Pomary — Uzhhorod pipeline is a major natural gas transmission system carrying Siberian gas from the Urengoy field in western Siberia through Russia and Ukraine to consumers in Central and Western Europe. Commissioned in the early 1980s, it became one of the largest Soviet gas export routes and remains a key segment of the European transit infrastructure. The pipeline terminates at Uzhhorod on the Ukrainian border with Slovakia, where it connects to the European gas grid. Gas transit along this route has repeatedly been a subject of negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and the European Union.
