United States Department of Agriculture
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is the federal executive branch agency responsible for developing and implementing national policy on farming, forestry, food safety, and rural development. It is led by the Secretary of Agriculture, a Cabinet member appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The department administers farm support programs, enforces food quality and inspection standards, conducts agricultural research, and maintains statistics on the sector. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
