UNHCR
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is a UN agency established in 1950 to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees and displaced persons. Headquartered in Geneva, it provides international protection, humanitarian assistance and works towards durable solutions for people forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution or human rights violations. The agency is led by the High Commissioner for Refugees, who reports to the UN General Assembly.
