Ukrainian Special Operations Forces
The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (SOF of the AFU) are a separate branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces responsible for special operations, special-purpose intelligence and actions behind enemy lines. They were established in 2016 through the reform and renaming of former special-purpose units. They have been involved in numerous operations during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including the defense of Kyiv in 2022 and operations in the Black Sea.
