Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights
The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights is a constitutional office in Ukraine responsible for parliamentary oversight of human and civil rights. The position was established by law in 1998, and the institution's mandate is set out in the Ukrainian Constitution and dedicated legislation. The Commissioner considers individual complaints, reviews the actions of state bodies, and represents Ukraine before international human rights mechanisms. Since Russia's full-scale invasion, the office has taken on an expanded role in monitoring the treatment of civilians, deported Ukrainians and prisoners of war.
