Ukrainian journalist Mykhailo Tkach detained in Vienna; Ukrainian consul gains access, Austria does not release him
Mykhailo Tkach, head of the investigative journalism department at Ukrainska Pravda, was detained by Austrian law enforcement in Vienna on 8 October while on an editorial assignment related to former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. Ukraine's embassy in Austria formally requested an explanation, and a Ukrainian consul gained access to Tkach but Austrian authorities kept him in custody. The whereabouts of his colleague Yaroslav Bondarenko, who was with him on the assignment, were unknown as of the same day.
