Ukrainian Air Force
Ukraine's Air Forces are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, responsible for air defence and military aviation. The branch is led by a commander who reports through the General Staff. Its units have been engaged in countering Russian air strikes since the start of the full-scale invasion, intercepting drones and cruise missiles. The command headquarters is located in Kyiv.

Russian drone strike hits Kyiv apartment block, injuring eight
Russia attacked Kyiv overnight on September 11 with strike drones, sparking a fire in a nine-story residential building in the Dnipro district and a separate warehouse fire in the Obolon district. Eight people were injured in the Dnipro district, with seven rescued by emergency services. The attack was part of a wider overnight salvo of 161 drones launched at Ukraine, of which air defense said it neutralized 138.
