Air Defense of Ukraine
Ukraine's Air Force (Повітряні Сили Збройних Сил України) is a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tasked with air defence and combat aviation. It encompasses fighter, bomber, transport and army aviation, together with surface-to-air missile and radio-technical units. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 the Air Force has been one of the main services responsible for intercepting missiles and drones aimed at Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. It is commanded by Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
