Syrskyi tells BBC Ukraine has 'broken Russia's ability to advance,' defends Kursk operation
Former Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi gave his first interview to the BBC since being dismissed in July 2026, claiming Russia is now taking roughly six times the casualties Ukraine is and that the front line has stabilised. He defended the 2024 Kursk operation as a successful maneuver that halted Russian offensive pressure on all but one operational direction, and rejected former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov's account of their falling-out, denying he ever issued an ultimatum.
