U.S. Geological Survey
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is the federal science agency of the United States Department of the Interior, established in 1879. It studies the nation's landscape, natural resources, and natural hazards, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and droughts. Its headquarters are in Reston, Virginia, with research centres and laboratories across the country.
