The U.S. Department of Justice is the federal executive department of the United States government responsible for law enforcement and the administration of justice. It is headed by the Attorney General, a member of the President's cabinet. Its main responsibilities include investigating and prosecuting federal crimes, overseeing the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the federal prison system, and representing the United States in legal matters.

US indicts five linked to Russian intelligence over alleged plot to kill dissidents and plan sabotage in Ukraine-supporting countries
The US Department of Justice unsealed an indictment charging five people, including two Russian intelligence officers, with running a network that recruited individuals in the US and abroad to surveil and kill Russian dissidents and to plan sabotage against countries supporting Ukraine. All five are charged with conspiracy to finance terrorism; three also face murder-for-hire charges.
