U.S. Department of Energy
The U.S. Department of Energy is the federal executive department responsible for U.S. policy on energy, nuclear security, and related research. It is headed by the Secretary of Energy, appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The department oversees the national laboratories, the country's nuclear weapons stockpile, and programs in energy efficiency and renewable energy development. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
