EU approves largest sanctions expansion against Russia since full-scale war began
On 12 October in Luxembourg, EU foreign ministers approved an expansion of the EU sanctions list by nearly 1,600 new entries targeting Russia's military-industrial complex, described by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas as the largest single expansion since the start of the full-scale war. More than half of the new listings are connected to the production chain for ballistic missiles. Separately, the Council added 77 individuals — including 74 candidates and 3 Central Election Commission members — over Russia's holding of State Duma "elections" on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory in September.
