Territorial Defence Force
The Territorial Defence Force (TDF) is a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, established in 2022 as a system of military reserve units formed in each oblast under the Main Directorate of Operational Support. It comprises brigades and battalions that train reservists and volunteers for the defence of territory in the event of armed attack, coordinated with local authorities and other security bodies. The TDF is intended to expand Ukraine's ability to mobilise and deploy defenders quickly across all regions.
