Ukrainian drone strike hits Yandex data center and Sasta plant in Russia's Ryazan Oblast, Zelensky confirms 'mirror response'
On the night of October 8, a strike set the Sasta machine-building plant in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, on fire — and with it, a co-located Yandex data center. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the attack as a 'mirror response' to Russian strikes, while the outage rippled across Russian banking, retail, transport and media services and pushed Yandex shares down more than 3%. Former NSDC counter-disinformation head Andriy Kovalenko said Ukraine's Defense Forces carried out the strike; the General Staff has not officially commented.
