Russian strike on Kramatorsk buses kills dozens; officials say toll could rise
On 8 October, Russian forces struck two marshrutka (route buses) carrying passengers in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast. Initial reports cited at least 12 dead; updates later in the day raised the toll to 30 and then 33 killed, with 18 wounded. Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast head Vadym Filashkin ordered public transport halted in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk from 9 October, and prosecutors opened a war-crime investigation.
