Su-33

The Su-33 is a Soviet- and Russian-designed fourth-generation carrier-based fighter developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau under Mikhail Simonov as a naval variant of the Su-27. It entered service with the Soviet Naval Aviation in 1993 as the principal fighter of the Russian aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov. The aircraft is intended to provide air superiority over naval task groups and to strike sea and ground targets from carriers of the Project 1143 Kuznetsov class.
