Witkoff and Zelensky meet in Oslo for new US-mediated talks on ending the war in Ukraine
US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner joined Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Oslo on 20 October for a new round of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb also took part, along with representatives of the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland (the E4) and officials from the European Union and NATO. The Oslo meeting is intended to prepare a peace proposal to be presented to Russia; Witkoff plans to travel on to Moscow to meet President Vladimir Putin. The talks come amid open friction between Washington and Kyiv over the Starshield satellite system, intelligence sharing and delays in Patriot missile deliveries.
