State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine
The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) is the central executive body responsible for state regulation of nuclear safety and radiation protection in Ukraine. It oversees compliance with nuclear and radiation safety requirements at nuclear power plants, research reactors, nuclear fuel cycle facilities and other organisations working with sources of ionising radiation. Russian drone strikes Kyiv nuclear research institute, no damage to reactor
A Russian drone struck the grounds of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv on the evening of 30 September 2026. The reactor and safety-critical equipment were unaffected; no casualties were recorded and the fire was quickly put out. Ukraine's nuclear regulator characterised the strike as an attack on a peaceful nuclear installation and as a war crime.
