State Emergency Service of Ukraine
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES, Ukrainian abbreviation ДСНС) is the central executive body responsible for civil defence, fire safety, rescue operations and response to emergencies. It operates under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Its units are involved in firefighting, demining of territories and responding to the consequences of Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure. The service is headed by a Chairman appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Russian drone strikes Kyiv's Northern Bridge for second consecutive day, hitting roadway during German chancellor's visit
On the morning of October 4, 2025, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv, with a drone striking the Pivnichnyi (Northern) Bridge for the second day in a row and damaging the road surface. The attack came during a surprise visit to Kyiv by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who announced further German assistance for Ukrainian air defences. Two people were injured, a heating main was damaged in the Desnianskyi district, and Ukrainian air defence reported shooting down 123 of 135 strike drones launched overnight.
