State Emergency Service of Ukraine

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS, also abbreviated SES) is the central executive body responsible for responding to man-made, natural and wartime emergencies. It falls under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is the legal successor of the former Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of the Chornobyl Catastrophe. Its tasks include firefighting, search-and-rescue operations, demining of territories, and the cleanup of shelling and natural-disaster aftermaths. The service is led by a Head appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
