Trump urges Zelensky to halt strikes on Russian diesel infrastructure, blames them for global shortage
US President Donald Trump called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian diesel fuel infrastructure, claiming those attacks are causing a global diesel shortage. Trump made the remarks on 13 September 2026 at his Doonbeg golf club in Ireland during the Irish Open tournament, and said the diesel deficit stems from the Russia–Ukraine war rather than US military action in the Middle East. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski publicly disputed the claim at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Ukraine's foreign minister.
