Seimas
The Seimas is the unicameral parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, whose members are elected by popular vote for four-year terms. It comprises 141 deputies representing Lithuania's political parties and movements. As the country's legislature, it passes laws, approves the state budget, and exercises the other powers granted by the Lithuanian Constitution. The current Seimas was established following Lithuania's restoration of independence in 1990, though a Lithuanian parliament has existed in various forms since the early twentieth century.
