Russian Direct Investment Fund

Russia's sovereign wealth fund, known as the National Wealth Fund (NWF, Фонд национального благосостояния), is a state reserve fund of the Russian Federation established in 2008 as part of the split of the Stabilisation Fund of Russia. Its assets are built up mainly from federal budget revenues from oil and gas and are used to cover budget deficits, support the pension system and finance infrastructure projects. The fund is managed by the Russian Ministry of Finance, with the Bank of Russia acting as the custodian of its assets.
