Russian occupation forces
"Russian occupation forces" is a collective term used in Ukrainian and international reporting to refer to the armed forces of the Russian Federation and Russia-controlled paramilitary groups that have occupied parts of Ukrainian territory since 2014 and have been conducting a full-scale invasion of Ukraine since 24 February 2022. The designation covers regular units of the Russian Armed Forces, mercenaries, personnel of Russian security services, and the occupation administrations established on captured land. News outlets use the expression to attribute responsibility for strikes and operations without singling out a particular command or unit.

Russian drone strike destroys Zaporizhzhia house, two civilians killed
A Russian drone strike on a private residential sector of Zaporizhzhia on the night of 11–12 September destroyed one house, killed two civilians and injured others. The head of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported the casualties and a wider pattern of oblast-wide bombardment.

Russian strike on Orlivka border crossing with Romania forces second suspension in a week
On the night of September 5–6, 2026, Russian forces struck border infrastructure in Izmail district of Odesa Oblast, causing the Orlivka international ferry crossing checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border to suspend operations for the second time within roughly a week. Romanian radar detected inbound aerial targets and the country declared a brief air-raid alert; no violation of Romanian airspace was recorded. Operations resumed on the morning of September 7.
