Russian Navy
The Russian Navy is the naval branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, encompassing surface ships, submarines, naval aviation, and coastal troops. It is organised into five fleets — Northern, Pacific, Black Sea, Baltic, and Caspian — each operating in its respective maritime theatre. The service is commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, appointed by the President. It traces its institutional lineage to the Imperial Russian Navy and remains one of the largest naval forces in the world by number of vessels.
