Russian military commissariat
The military commissariat in Russia is a state body responsible for the registration of military-age citizens, the conscription of soldiers for mandatory service, and mobilisation. The commissariat system is headed by the Main Organisational and Mobilisation Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, with regional, city and district commissariats operating across the country. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, commissariats have played a central role in carrying out mobilisation and recruiting volunteers.
