US indicts five linked to Russian intelligence over alleged plot to kill dissidents and plan sabotage in Ukraine-supporting countries
The US Department of Justice unsealed an indictment charging five people, including two Russian intelligence officers, with running a network that recruited individuals in the US and abroad to surveil and kill Russian dissidents and to plan sabotage against countries supporting Ukraine. All five are charged with conspiracy to finance terrorism; three also face murder-for-hire charges. US officials linked the defendants' actions to the Kremlin, while Moscow said it would not comment without seeing credible evidence.
