The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR RF) is Russia's civilian foreign intelligence agency, established in 1991 as a successor to the First Chief Directorate of the KGB. It reports directly to the President of the Russian Federation and is responsible for intelligence gathering outside Russia's borders.
