Humanitarian catastrophe in occupied Oleshky: named Russian units, trapped civilians, calls for evacuation corridor
Russian-occupied Oleshky on the left bank of Kherson Oblast is facing severe shortages of food, medicine, gas and water, with Russian forces blocking civilian evacuation. Ukrainian and investigative reporting has for the first time publicly linked specific Russian units — the 126th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade and the 331st Guards Airborne Regiment — and their commanders to the conditions there. Ukraine's ombudsman and foreign minister are pressing for a humanitarian corridor at the UN, while diaspora actions in Berlin and Budapest have drawn attention to the crisis.
