Russian Air Force
The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, responsible for aviation, air defence and space activities. They were established in 2015 by merging the Russian Air Force and the Air Defence Troops. Subordinated to the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, they have been extensively involved in operations during the war against Ukraine, including ballistic missile strikes.

Russian forces struck Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with ballistic missiles overnight on September 22, hitting industrial facilities in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad simultaneously. Three people were injured in Dnipro, and fires broke out at the impact sites.
