1st Guards Tank Army
The 1st Guards Tank Army is a major formation of the Russian Ground Forces, part of the Western Military District, headquartered in Bakovka near Moscow. Originally formed during World War II as the 1st Tank Army and awarded the Guards designation in 1943, it has long been considered among the most powerful armoured formations of the Russian military. The army has been engaged in the war in Ukraine as part of Russia's Western grouping of forces.
