Ministry of National Defence of Romania
Romania's Ministry of Defense is the central government body responsible for defence policy and the administration of the Romanian Armed Forces. It is led by the Minister of Defense, who sits in the Romanian Government under the Prime Minister and, on matters of military policy, reports to the President as supreme commander of the armed forces. Romania has been a NATO member since 2004, and the ministry oversees the country's contributions to alliance operations and its own defence modernisation.

Drone crashes in Moldova during Russian mass strike on Ukraine; Chișinău summons Russian envoy
A drone entered Moldovan airspace on the morning of 30 September 2026 and exploded after colliding with a communications mast near the village of Hyrbovăț in Anenii Noi district, during a large Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine. A second drone was detected later in the morning, Moldova temporarily shut parts of its sky, the foreign minister condemned the violation, and the Russian ambassador was summoned.

A drone crashed in a forest near the village of Solca in Romania's Suceava County on the morning of 24 September during a large Russian combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine. Romania scrambled two F-16 fighter jets, issued air-raid alerts, and briefly suspended classes in four localities, with no casualties or damage reported.
