Romanian Coast Guard
The Romanian Coast Guard is the state law-enforcement body within the Ministry of National Defence responsible for maritime and river surveillance, search and rescue, and border control in Romania's territorial waters and on the Danube. It conducts rescue operations, combats smuggling and illegal migration, and responds to maritime emergencies, including fires aboard vessels. Its headquarters is in Constanța.

Drone strike hits cargo ship carrying Ukrainian grain near Romania; two crew killed
A cargo vessel transporting grain from the Ukrainian port of Izmail to Italy was struck and caught fire in the Black Sea near the Romanian coast on 5 October. Romanian rescuers pulled 11 crew members from the water and recovered two bodies. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said two Russian drones hit the ship, while Russia has not publicly claimed or denied responsibility and Romanian authorities had not officially named the cause of the fire.
