Vienna prosecutors detain two Ukrainska Pravda journalists during espionage investigation, then release them without charge
Vienna prosecutors detained Ukrainska Pravda investigative journalist Mykhailo Tkach and camera operator Yaroslav Bondarenko on October 8 while they were in Vienna on an editorial assignment related to former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. The journalists were released without charge after interrogations failed to link them to an espionage case involving two other Ukrainians already in custody. The Vienna Prosecutor's Office says the detentions were unrelated to the journalists' professional activity, while Ukrainska Pravda calls the measures unjustified and disproportionate and alleges law enforcement exceeded its authority.
