The Polish Ministry of National Defence is the central government body responsible for defence policy and the armed forces of Poland. It is headed by a minister appointed by the prime minister. The ministry oversees the Polish military, defence procurement and cooperation with NATO and EU partners.

Russian drones strike Kyiv–Warsaw train and gas station near Polish border in Volyn
On the morning of September 13, Russian drone strikes hit targets in Volyn Oblast near the Ukrainian-Polish border, including a gas station at the Yahodyn–Dorohusk crossing and the locomotive of the Kyiv–Warsaw passenger train about 2 km from the border. No passengers or railway staff were injured on the train after Ukrzaliznytsia warned the crew in advance. A separate special train carrying Western officials returning from the YES conference in Kyiv, including former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's adviser Günter Sautter, was stopped and briefly evacuated as a precaution.
