Polish military
The Polish military, known as the Wojsko Polskie, comprises the armed forces of the Republic of Poland: Land Forces, Navy, Air Force, and Special Forces. The president serves as supreme commander, with operational leadership vested in the Chief of the General Staff and the Minister of National Defence. Since 2022, Poland has pursued a major programme of military modernisation and personnel expansion in response to the war in neighbouring Ukraine. Polish forces participate in NATO and EU missions and constitute one of the alliance's largest conventional armies on its eastern flank.
