Polish Border Guard
The Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna) is a uniformed service under Poland's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, responsible for protecting the country's state borders, controlling border traffic, and combating illegal migration. It was established in 1991, replacing the military border troops of the former Polish People's Republic. The force is led by a Commander-in-Chief appointed by the interior minister and operates regional branches along Poland's land borders, including with Ukraine, Belarus, and the EU's external frontier.
