Russian drone strike kills two, injures dozens in Kyiv as overnight barrage hits gas stations, pharmaceutical plant and convention centre
On the morning of 23 September 2026, Russia launched a massive overnight drone attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, deploying 161 strike drones of which Ukrainian air defences intercepted 119. Hits were recorded in the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Solomianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts of the capital, damaging two gas stations, a four-storey business centre, the Darnitsa pharmaceutical plant, the Parkovyi convention and exhibition centre, warehouses and railway infrastructure. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said two people were killed and the number of injured rose through the day to 43. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office qualified the strikes as a war crime.
