OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media

The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media is an independent institutional officeholder of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, mandated to monitor media freedom across the organization's 57 participating states. The position was created in 1997 by decision of the OSCE's foreign ministers. The Representative responds to violations of press freedom, publishes reports and speaks for the organization on matters affecting journalists and independent media.
