Orthodox Church of Ukraine
The Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) is an autocephalous Eastern Orthodox church established in Kyiv at the Unification Council of December 2018 through the merger of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Its canonical independence (tomos of autocephaly) was recognised by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I in January 2019. The primate of the OCU is Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Epiphanius (Dumenko). It is the largest Orthodox jurisdiction in the country and has played a central role in post-2014 religious and identity politics in Ukraine.

Ukraine's cabinet backs monument to Hetman Mazepa on site of toppled Lenin statue in Kyiv
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers approved the Ministry of Culture's proposal to erect a monument to Ukrainian Hetman Ivan Mazepa in central Kyiv. The planned site is Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, where a monument to Vladimir Lenin stood until it was torn down during the Euromaidan in December 2013. President Volodymyr Zelensky first announced the initiative on June 28 during events marking the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine.
