Nord Stream 1
Nord Stream 1 is a submarine natural gas pipeline running under the Baltic Sea from Russia to northern Germany. Operational since 2011, it became one of the main routes for Russian gas deliveries to Europe. The pipeline is operated by Nord Stream AG, a company majority-owned by Russia's Gazprom alongside European energy partners. Flows were halted in 2022 following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the pipeline has since been at the centre of geopolitical disputes and investigations.
