Lithuania and Latvia declare air alerts after unidentified drone crosses Baltic airspace
On the morning of 18 October, Lithuania declared a red-level air alert in Šiauliai and Panevėžys counties after an unidentified drone was tracked in its airspace, and Latvia followed with alerts in three southern municipalities. NATO air-policing fighters could not visually identify or engage the object due to weather. Drone debris was preliminarily found in Lithuania's Pasvalys district, and authorities suspect the drone entered from Polish territory.
