Ukraine–NATO Council
The NATO–Ukraine Council is a joint consultative and decision-making body established between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, replacing the earlier NATO–Ukraine Commission. It was launched in 2023 following a decision at the Vilnius summit, building on the framework first created by the 1997 Charter on a Distinctive Partnership. The council brings together NATO allies and Ukraine to consult on security issues, coordinate support, and advance Ukraine's path toward eventual membership in the alliance.

An emergency classified meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was held at NATO Headquarters on 3 September 2026 to discuss strengthening Ukraine's air defense against Russia's new aerial terror tactics, including jet-powered Shahed-type drones. Ukraine briefed all 32 NATO members on the specific weapons packages it expects within a week, ahead of the next Ramstein-format UDCG meeting, and pushed for additional PURL contributions and anti-ballistic interceptor transfers.
