NATO's top military officer says Alliance is ready for possible Russian escalation on eastern flank
NATO Military Committee Chairman Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone told a meeting of the Alliance's 32 top generals in Copenhagen that NATO is prepared for a possible escalation by Russia on its eastern flank. He said NATO continues to expand its forces and equipment and has roughly 4,000 pages of military plans covering scenarios from a minimal crisis to intervention on Alliance territory. The statement comes amid recent warnings from Poland, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania and US intelligence about possible Russian provocations or hybrid strikes on NATO members.
