Ukrainska Pravda journalists detained in Vienna on espionage charges; one injured, reporter released
Mykhailo Tkach, head of Ukrainska Pravda's investigative unit, and cameraman Yaroslav Bondarenko were detained in Vienna on 8 October while working on a story about fugitive former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. Tkach was released on 9 October; Bondarenko was injured during the arrest. The two faced three charges: espionage on behalf of Ukrainian military intelligence, participation in a criminal organization, and harm to Austria. Tkach alleges the 'eyewitness' tip behind the detention came from people linked to Kravchenko.
