Ukraine's economy minister says one hour of air raid alert costs Ukraine about $45 million
Ukraine's Economy Minister Oleksandr Kravchenko told The Guardian that each hour of air raid alert costs Ukraine roughly $45 million in lost business activity. He said Russian strikes on industrial and logistics infrastructure since the start of 2026 have caused more than $10 billion in damages and characterised the attacks as an attempt to "destroy the entire economy." His remarks come as Ukraine rolls out a new two-tier yellow and red alert system aimed at cutting economic disruption from repeated sirens.
