Russian drone strikes close three Kyiv bridges, kill one in fourth Pivdennyi Bridge hit in 24 hours
In the early hours of October 2, 2026, Russian drones struck Kyiv's Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge for the fourth time in roughly 24 hours, prompting the full closure of the Pivdennyi Bridge and the Paton Bridge and the partial restriction of the Metro Bridge. A Russian drone also hit the upper floors of a 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district, killing one person and injuring two, while debris damaged windows and cars in the Holosiivskyi district. The simultaneous closures of three major Dnipro crossings produced a citywide transport collapse with significant traffic jams, dozens of passengers stranded at stops, and reports of taxi fares between banks exceeding 1,000 UAH.
