The Ministry of External Affairs is the central government department responsible for a country's foreign policy, international relations, and diplomatic representation abroad. Headed by the minister of external affairs (or foreign affairs), it manages diplomatic missions, conducts negotiations with foreign governments and international organisations, and handles consular affairs for citizens overseas.

U.S. House passes sweeping Russia and Iran sanctions bill, sending it to Trump
The U.S. House of Representatives approved the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, sending the legislation to President Donald Trump for signature. The bill imposes mandatory sanctions on Russian leadership, oligarchs, banks, energy firms and the shadow fleet, and authorizes tariffs of up to 100% on countries among the top five buyers of Russian oil and gas. Ukraine welcomed the measure; China, India and Russia sharply criticized it; Germany praised it; Hungary is seeking an exemption.
